| CholestinTM
· Over 57 million American have undesirable cholesterol levels.
· An estimated 80% of cholesterol is produced by the body. The other 20% comes from your diet.
History of Cholestin
Cholestin [Patent Pending] is a proprietary scientifically standardized all-natural form of Monascus purpureus Went yeast fermented on rice, a traditional Chinese health food. The health enhancing qualities of this yeast have been known and used in China for over two thousand years. Cholestin is a natural dietary supplement with the scientifically-supported ability to promote healthy blood lipid levels.
The ancient Chinese pharmacopoeia Ben Cao Gan Mu records the use of this yeast to promote the health of the cardiovascular system. This application was confirmed by the discovery that a proprietary strain of the yeast produces metabolic agents that assist in the promotion of normal cholesterol levels. This proprietary dietary supplement was introduced to the Untied States as Cholestin.
Scientific Support
Over twenty clinical trials involving thousands of subjects support the use of the proprietary ingredient in Cholestin as a dietary supplement to maintain healthy blood lipid levels.
The effect of Cholestin is partially attributed to the presence of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, enzymes in the liver that control the amount of cholesterol produced in the liver. It has been hypothesized that relatively high concentrations of unsaturated fatty acids and other natural compounds found in Cholestin may work in concert with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors to provide additional health benefit.
The Benefits of Cholestin
- Promotes healthy cholesterol levels
- Are supported by clinical research
- 100% natural
- Patent pending formula
- Natural compliment to diet and exercise
These benefits were established in clinical studies for subjects with total serum cholesterol less than 240 mg/dl. and triglyceride levels less than 200 mg/dl.
How does your body naturally control cholesterol?
The proper balance of cholesterol and triglycerides is essential to human health. Cholesterol is a key component of cell membranes, and an important substrate for the biosynthesis of essential hormones. Most of the body's supply of cholesterol (approximately 80%) is synthesized in the liver. This biosynthetic process is rigorously controlled by biochemical feedback mechanisms. The amount of cholesterol produced by the liver is controlled by the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. When the liver senses that more cholesterol is needed, more of the enzyme is produced to increase cholesterol production. When the liver senses that there is enough cholesterol in your body, less of the enzyme is produced to decrease cholesterol production. The essential feedback mechanism helps to keep your body's cholesterol level in balance. Thus, the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors in Cholestin are important because they help the body maintain normal cholesterol levels.
Why is it Important to Maintain Healthy Cholesterol Levels?
The health of the brain, the heart and the cardiovascular system, and the function of other organs depend on the unobstructed flow of blood for the delivery of oxygen and nutrients, and the removal of harmful metabolites and waste. High levels of cholesterol, particularly LDL ("bad") cholesterol, are implicated in a vicious process in which blood flow is restricted by cholesterol-related plaque in the vessels. This can result in reduced flow of blood (and oxygen) to the brain, heart, and other organs. Conversely, HDL ("good") cholesterol may help remove excess cholesterol from the blood and facilitate regression of plaque resulting in improved blood flow to vital organs.
Recommended Adult Use
Cholestin should be used as a dietary supplement for healthy adult men and postmenopausal women concerned about maintaining desirable cholesterol levels. Cholestin is intended for use as part of a cholesterol maintenance program that includes a healthy diet with reduced saturated fats and high cholesterol foods and includes regular exercise. Cholestin is not intended or recommended for treating a disease. If medical treatment is needed for cholesterol control, please contact a physician.
Directions for Use
As a dietary supplement, take 2 capsules, 2 times per day (morning and evening) with a drink. Take with food to minimize the possibility of digestive tract discomfort. Do not take more than 4 capsules in any 24-hour period. Immediately discontinue use of Cholestin if you experience any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially if accompanied by flu symptoms.
